(Phnom Penh): His Excellency Darek YIP, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Cambodia, has pledged to continue to strengthen and expand cooperation between the two countries, Cambodia and Australia, especially in the fields of land management, urban planning and construction, and to attract investors to Cambodia.
His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Say Samal received a courtesy call and discussed work with His Excellency Darek YIP, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Cambodia, on the afternoon of October 22, 2024, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On that occasion, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Say Samal congratulated His Excellency Darek YIP, who has just assumed the position of the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to Cambodia. His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister said that Cambodia is in a phase of reorganizing itself because Cambodia has gone through many periods of rule, including war and later gained independence and complete peace, and now it is time to reorganize itself.
The Minister stated that Cambodia considers Prince Norodom Sihanouk to be the father of independence, Prime Minister Hun Sen to be the father of peace, and President Hun Manet to be the father of modern Cambodia. Therefore, Cambodia is now preparing for its modern era.
HE Say Samal also informed about some of the work of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, especially related to the completion of land registration work to create a dispute-free environment throughout the country, and is currently focusing on digital transformation.
Regarding cooperation with the Australian Embassy, HE the Deputy Prime Minister said that the Ministry needs additional experts and advisors regarding construction standards and other construction materials, so HE asked the Australian Embassy if it could cooperate in assisting Cambodia to any extent.
In response, HE Darek YIP praised Cambodia for its development efforts, especially the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, which is preparing for digital transformation work quickly. With this, His Excellency the Ambassador pledged to continue strengthening and expanding cooperation between the two countries, Cambodia and Australia, especially in the fields of land management, urban planning and construction, and attracting investors to Cambodia.
