(Sihanoukville): His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Say Samal, Minister of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, considers the education sector as an important sector that can transform Sihanoukville into a province rich in human resources with the potential to participate in national development. His Excellency spoke during a meeting with students who scored A in the 2023 Secondary School Certificate Examination held in Sihanoukville on December 22, 2023.

Taking this opportunity, His Excellency provided some tips for reflection on transforming Sihanoukville into a province full of intelligent, talented, socially adaptable students and a province with students who have completed their education, including:

1. Teachers teaching in schools in Sihanoukville, as well as students and parents and guardians of students, must be open-minded in accepting new ideas or opinions that are beneficial to education.

2. Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and Samdech Maha Bavorathi Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, will continue to build more schools, which is a strategy for everyone, not just for Preah Sihanouk Province. Therefore, students and teachers should join in planting trees to create green shade and clean the school premises to be clean, hygienic, and have a good environment.

3. Schools are special educational institutions, so if schools are clean, they will create a mindset for the people of Preah Sihanouk Province that they are clean-living citizens.

4. Proper eating habits that lead to good health and physical fitness will lead to better learning and teaching.

At the same time, His Excellency highly appreciated and valued the leaders, civil servants, academic staff of the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Department of Education, Youth and Sports, the high school management board, and teachers from both public and private institutions who have worked hard to train and teach students to achieve excellent results in the Secondary School Certificate Examination, which will be held on November 6, 2023.

Forty outstanding students with Grade A each received a Suzuki Nex motorcycle as an incentive prize, while the principal of a high school with one student with Grade A will receive 2 million riels and 4 million riels if there are two students with Grade A.

It should be noted that a total of 1,915 candidates applied for the 2023 Secondary School Certificate Examination in Preah Sihanouk Province, and 1,523 passed the exam, equivalent to 80.50%, of which 40 candidates received Grade A, 122 received Grade B, 287 received Grade C, 548 received Grade D, and 526 received Grade E.
