(Phnom Penh): The leadership of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction received a courtesy call and discussed work with Ms. Eda Kraja, Country Director for Cambodia and Laos of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) on the morning of February 12, 2024 at the Ministry’s office.

Ms. Eda Kraja stated that UNOPS is a partner of the Royal Government of Cambodia by providing funds for the implementation of various projects. Today’s meeting is to understand and study in depth the priority policies of the Ministry and collaborate together in the effective implementation of projects.

In response, HE Say Samal said that the Ministry has many tasks that UNOPS can participate in and cooperate in implementing together. Land registration is a priority policy of the Ministry to provide security in legal land tenure and improve the livelihood of citizens. The Ministry needs a budget of approximately US$100 million to complete land registration nationwide, and according to the plan, it is scheduled to be completed within the next 2 years.

Land registration to continue to provide title deeds to the people quickly has been providing many benefits to the people and the Royal Government of Cambodia, especially reducing land disputes and creating a dispute-free environment throughout the country, as well as further promoting national economic growth.

The Ministry will organize a working group to support the implementation of the work with UNOPS.
