(Banteay Meanchey): In a meeting to discuss and promote land registration in Banteay Meanchey province on the afternoon of April 21, 2024, the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction and its subordinate departments, together with the Banteay Meanchey provincial administration, agreed to expedite the work of registering the remaining land in the province as soon as possible as planned.

The leadership of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction stated that this land registration has received many welcomes and congratulations, which is a treasure of the people and a success for the Royal Government of Cambodia. This land registration has also ended many land disputes between individuals and created an environment free of disputes in Cambodia. The data that the ministry can prepare will, in the future, serve public services through convenient services using digital technology to provide convenience to citizens to use anytime and anywhere.

His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Say Samal considered the land registration process to end the dispute as a historic task in Cambodia’s land reform, and what we have implemented is aimed at completing it before 2029 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the issuance of land ownership certificates to citizens. With this, His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister urged the General Department of Land Management and Urbanization and the General Department of Housing to cooperate with the Banteay Meanchey provincial administration in implementing the master plan, urban planning, housing, agricultural land, pedestrian roads, and public spaces in accordance with the province’s potential, in order to improve the province to become a place with a comfortable environment and provide well-being for the people.

Currently, in Banteay Meanchey province, there are approximately 325,000 land parcels that are still being implemented and the registration procedure is being promoted in a systematic manner to complete the registration by 2025.

On that occasion, His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister also handed over equipment to the Department of Land Management, Urban Planning, Construction and Cadastre of Banteay Meanchey Province to promote land registration work, including: 20 measuring machines provided using funds from the LASED III project, 4 desktop computers, 4 laptops, 3 A4 printers, 4 scanners and 9 Epson printers.

It is worth noting that the Royal Government of Cambodia, 7th term of the National Assembly, has launched the Pentagon Strategy, Phase 1, which includes deepening land and urban planning reforms with the creation of a three-point land policy, including systematic land registration, out-of-court settlement of land disputes, and providing transparent and efficient land administration services to citizens, aiming to improve the living standards of citizens.

Land registration work to continue to provide title deeds to people quickly as a basis for economic resources and security of land tenure is the fifth priority of the 15-point policy priorities that the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction has put forward, based on the priorities of the Pentagon Strategy in the Fourth Pentagon, the Fourth Angle.
