(Phnom Penh): The leadership of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction has launched the “Contemporary Khmer Architecture” policy to promote and better manage the construction and architectural sector in the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of a training course on construction site management held at the Ministry’s headquarters on the morning of September 26, 2024.
On that occasion, HE Deputy Prime Minister Say Samal said that Cambodia has gone through many eras, and so far we have been able to prepare ourselves to a level that ensures a valuable heritage and memories for the Cambodian people for future generations. HE Deputy Prime Minister believes that the peace we have today is a valuable heritage, meaning the second Angkor after the first Angkor built by Cambodian ancestors as a legacy for future generations to continue to preserve. With this, HE spoke about the development of the Khmer architecture sector in many stages until now, which requires us to discuss together to transform this sector into a better one.
His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister encouraged the participants of the training to reflect, discuss, exchange experiences and make suggestions on what kind of country we want Cambodia to be in the future, because all of us present here are important cells of society, with roles and responsibilities to promote the development of the construction sector, contributing to the proper planning of cities for economic growth in Cambodia.
Regarding this policy, His Excellency raised some important points to examine whether we have sufficient standards and regulations to shape the future construction mindset, so that the Cambodian people can live happily, and to consider governance and construction management mechanisms that ensure safety, quality and beauty.
