(Phnom Penh): In a meeting with tourism port business owners to review the case of organizing a tourism port in Preah Sihanouk province, held at the Ministry’s office on the afternoon of October 8, 2024, HE Deputy Prime Minister Say Samal and Chairman of the Royal Government Working Group in Preah Sihanouk Province said that the meeting was held to respond to many requests for the construction of a tourism port in Preah Sihanouk province.
Regarding this request, HE suggested the idea of organizing a joint port with the participation of all port business owners to serve the tourism and transportation sectors, which would provide great benefits to the economy in Preah Sihanouk province, rather than building separate ports.
HE Deputy Prime Minister stated that this joint port will be a mixed port, including a tourism port, a commercial port, and a fishing port, and not just a regular port, but an arrangement to become an economic lifeline for everyone in the locality.
In accordance with the spirit of the meeting, the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, with the National Committee for the Management and Development of the Cambodian Coastal Zone as the secretariat, will prepare a concept for preparing this plan.
