(Phnom Penh): In a courtesy meeting with His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Say Sam Al, Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, on the afternoon of November 5, 2024, the CEO of Samsung Pharm of the Republic of Korea promised to do his best to help Cambodia expand its market and establish a factory here to contribute to the Royal Government of Cambodia through investments in the health, agriculture and cosmetics sectors, which can provide more job opportunities for Cambodian people.

The CEO of Samsung Pharm of the Republic of Korea said that initially his company had only 5 employees, but with the support of the people and the Royal Government of Cambodia, the company currently has nearly 100 employees. The CEO also stated that Samsung Pharm has branches in Vietnam and Myanmar, and in Cambodia, the company has been operating for almost a year and plans to provide more jobs for Cambodian people. As for the future plans, he will expand the market even further and import good products to Cambodia and establish a factory here.

In addition, the Director General plans to distribute health screening kits brought from the Republic of Korea to Cambodian civil servants who work hard to do their jobs. This health screening kit can test urine and can detect liver, diabetes, and kidney health problems. Therefore, if permitted by HE Deputy Prime Minister Say Samal, he would also like to organize a program to distribute this kit to civil servants of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction for health screening.

In response, HE Deputy Prime Minister Say Samal hoped that Samsung Pharm would continue to grow in the investment process in Cambodia. HE drew the attention of the Samsung Pharm delegation that the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications is preparing a digital park, and that the technology related to health screening, as mentioned by the company, is also a part of which the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications is considering this point.

In the health sector, HE said that Cambodia is considering new strategies to promote this sector better. Currently, Cambodians are paying more attention to health issues than ever before. Therefore, if Samsung Pharm can set up a clinic in Cambodia and open it to Cambodians for health care consultations, His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister believes that it would be good and could go well.

On the other hand, Korean cosmetics are popular with Cambodians because they are affordable and of high quality. This is also an opportunity for companies to bring their cosmetics to Cambodia. The Ministry will help coordinate the work requested by the companies to promote the smooth investment process in Cambodia, which will help boost Cambodia’s economy.

At the same time, His Excellency suggested that companies consider agriculture in Cambodia, which is a potential sector but the market is still small. Therefore, His Excellency suggested that companies bring agricultural products from Cambodia to sell and supply in the Korean market.
