(Phnom Penh): The leadership of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction said that the official inauguration of the Kien Khleang Mosque is a new achievement of the Khmer Muslims in Chroy Changvar District, which clearly demonstrates the religious harmony in Cambodia, which is not common in many countries in the world with such religious harmony. This harmony is a precious culture of Cambodia that has existed since ancient times.

His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Say Samal, Minister of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, presided over the official inauguration ceremony of the Kien Khleang Mosque, located in Kien Khleang Village, Chroy Changvar Sangkat, Chroy Changvar District, Phnom Penh, on the morning of November 1, 2025, after the completion of construction. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the High Council of Islamic Affairs of Cambodia, local authorities, Hakim Tuan, national and international guests, and many Muslim citizens.

Mr. Sok Sokkry, a community representative and religious teacher, said that the new mosque will serve Muslims of all ethnicities and play an important role in promoting Islamic education in the community. Due to the old mosque being in a dilapidated condition and experiencing frequent flooding, the mosque was demolished on December 10, 2023.

Taking advantage of the occasion, HE Deputy Prime Minister Say Samal congratulated and considered the achievement of the Kien Khleang Mosque as a new achievement of the Khmer Muslims in Chroy Changvar District, which clearly demonstrates the religious harmony in Cambodia, which is not common in many countries in the world with such religious harmony. This harmony is a precious culture of Cambodia that has existed since ancient times.

His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister stated that Cambodia does not discriminate against any race, religion or political affiliation, but always provides all kinds of freedoms, respects each other, lives in peace together, and strives to build and protect the nation together, with the goal of helping Cambodia grow stronger and progress. His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister hopes that this mosque will become a place for young Muslims to know themselves better, learn about the culture and civilization of Islam, and participate in developing Cambodia more strongly.

His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister Say Samal expects that this gathering will open a new page for the entire Cambodian society in preventing discrimination or disagreement in all forms and turning to what is the life of the Cambodian people by connecting to the culture, civilization, knowledge, wisdom, and intelligence of each individual to ensure that Cambodia cannot return to the genocide as before and will be able to live with freedom, dignity, and happiness in the future.

Please be informed that the construction of Kien Khlang Mosque began on December 22, 2023 and was completed on January 1, 2025. The mosque was originally named “Nurul Islam Kien Khlang” and is currently called “Kien Khlang Mosque”. The new building is located on an area of ​​441 square meters, with a building area of ​​624 square meters, including a separate bathroom of 12 square meters and a parking space of 50 square meters in front of the building. The mosque’s architecture is 16.1 meters high, with two floors, which can accommodate between 200 and 400 worshipers. In addition, on the ground floor there is a 40 square meter study room for Islamic education programs and a 16 square meter storage room, which supports the daily use of the mosque.
